Internet Marketing - What Works
My marketing effort is invested in creating useful, informative content for your site that can be posted online.
This involves:

Keyword Selection -
Choosing the best keywords that you believe people will place in the search box is somewhat of a hit and miss proposition.
What terms are popular today may not be as popular tomorrow.
We need to, however, spend a certain amount of time selecting keywords, as every subsequent step changes based on your keywords.
I don’t place as much emphasis on this step as others do, but it has to be done.

Make sure your Web pages match your chosen Keywords -
I'm not looking to do a full website analysis for you.
I just want to make sure the key elements (title, headers, alternate text, and page names ...) correctly mirror your keyword choices.
This doesn't take long, but everything else I would do for you builds on this.

Informative Video -
I like to craft informative, hopefully fun to watch, videos that illustrate the points your website is trying to make.
This is my primary effort towards internet marketing.
I work less with live video, as just watching a person talk isn't really that informative.
What I like to do is animate still images, graphs, charts, logos ... to create movement and embellish the points we're trying to make.
Why do I prefer using video as a marketing tool:

Video is more engaging -
In this day of mind boggling media and short attention spans, it's difficult to hold someone's interest with a flat, static screen full of text and pictures.
Movement draws the person in to seeing what it is you have to say.

Video is more educational and memorable -
A moving image better illustrates a point you're trying to make.
Consider the difference between a static line chart, versus the same chart with the line moving across the image.

Video can be posted on popular sites -
Similar to article marketing, you can post your videos on many popular sites where people go to look for new things and new ideas.

Video serves dual purposes -
Even if you have limited success attracting more people to your site through your videos, the ones that do visit your site and see your videos are better informed and educated of your site's purpose.
This will translate to more interest and longer visits to your site (and subsequent sales), as well as less time spent having to verbally explain what your products and services can do for someone.

Video creation is expensive.
A good 6 minute animated video can take 60 hours to create and cost $1,800!
Not everyone has a budget for this.

Articles -
I do not invest in bulk article submissions.
But there is still great benefit from posting useful, unique information to a select number of article repositories. I hand submit my own articles to these sites, and have custom made tools that take advantage of the unique formatting capabilities of each submission site.
I enjoy writing and have written hundreds of pages, both creatively and professionally.
I have a talent for editing, so if you provide me with fully written articles, I can edit those and spare you some cost. Or, I can write from scratch to come up with interesting articles about what your customers would want to learn about you.

Press Releases -
I don't use these as rigorously as others, but if you have a credible service or event that is intriguing enough to garner a press release, then it's worth it to do. There's an art to writing a good Press Release, as you want to intrigue publications to include it in their material (and they're inundated with daily submittals).
But there are also Press Release sites that consist solely of Press Releases, and they're worth submitting to.
They usually allow pictures and can be useful towards getting traffic to your site.

Changing Content -
It used to be that the search engines liked static web sites that didn't change over time.
My guess is that they thought that a site that kept changing wasn't finished yet.
Now of course the site that is constantly updated is a sign of a thriving business with new products and new things to say every day.
And the site that hasn't changed for 2 years is someone's hobby site that they're no longer interested in.
Which do you think the search engines are going to take more seriously?
The best way to add weekly (if not daily) content to your site is to keep a blog.
Add something interesting as often as you can.
It's not as hard as it seems.
- "We got a new car accessory in the other day that our customers really seem to like ...".
- "You know, we're seeing the stock market jump and slide almost daily, and it seems like this winter is going to see a lot of pessimism ...".
Your web developer needs to set this up, but it's something you should have.
