With most of the web sites I've created, the owner expected web traffic (visitors) to just magically appear once the site was finished ("Build it and They will come"), no matter how much I warned them that this wasn’t the case. Eventually, after their disappointment ran its course, most website owners then put in the hard work (or contracted out to others) of getting people to their site and compete successfully with the thousands of similar sites out there.
For my primary web site business that is what I do: attract interested visitors (traffic) to my sites. How I do this has changed over the years, as I’ve perfected my techniques (which is the same service that I offer to others). Basically, the answer to getting website traffic is:
Content, Content, Content
Content is quality information that is relevant to what a web visitor is actively searching for. Creating unique and useful content and posting it on the most credible content repositories on the internet is where I invest most of my efforts. I do this primarily through informative videos, with some article and Press Release authoring to round out the effort.
The days of tricking the search engines to list you at the top of Google are over, and the name of the game is creating as much useful content as you can, posting it where it is easily accessible, and adding new content frequently. This will consistenly generate relevant traffic to your site and the search engines recognize this and will boost your search standings accordingly. It's actually what the search engines are trying their best to accomplish: bring the most useful, credible information to the individuals looking for it.
Here is what I’ve learned about what Does and Doesn't work anymore in Internet Marketing.
